- Bootblack is bound in pea-green cloth stamped in gold, black, white, and a darker forest green.
- The front cover depicts a boy in a wreath with white ribbons, under which is a boot-blacking block with strap atop three newspapers. The title appears in a band at the top.
- The spine features a block of gold at the top onti which the title is stamped in black lettering, a boot-blacking block atop some newspapers and leaves, the author's name, and the name of the publisher.
