About Brad Chase

Bradford Chase has been an Alger collector and researcher for almost 40 years, starting in 1973 when his Mother gave him a box of old Alger books that she remembered reading as a child (just before World War I). For the last four decades, Mr. Chase has completed seven books detailing the formats of selected publishers of Horatio Alger stories. When he completed each book, the relevant Alger volumes collected and all related research material was given to the permanent collection of the Alger Repository at Northern Illinois University. Mr. Chase is a longstanding member of the Horatio Alger Society and lives in Enfield, Connecticut.

Brad Chase, 1999 Paper covered, 133 pages, bibliography and footnotes, illustrated with cover designs, charts and graphs plus a brief history of the New York Book Company. It is essentially a description of 26 different format designs of New York Book Company/Alger books designed for the Alger collector.

Brad Chase, 1995 Paper wrapper, 151 pages, bibliography and footnotes, illustrated with cover designs, charts and graphs plus a brief history of Edward H. Wadewitz and his Whitman company. It is essentially a description of 44 different format designs of Whitman/Alger books designed for the Alger collector.

	Thomas D. Hurst, his family and publishing company. It is essentially a description of 30 different format designs (including 46 applique covers) of Alger books published by Hurst & Company designed for the Alger collector.
	Small Horatio Alger Books Published by Thomas D. Hurst Hard cover with illustrated dust jacket, 152 pages, bibliography and footnotes, illustrated with cover designs, and photos, and graphs plus a chronology of Thomas D. Hurst. It is essentially a reference of the 16mo Hurst formats, describing both printed and applique covers. Designed for the Alger collector.
